Just How Nerdy Can A Church Get?

Why Everything Sucks

For my first ever MCC blog post, I thought it would be wise to follow on from a conversation that Keith, Lorraine and I had this morning at our staff meeting. Curiously, the Mill Wine Cellar has...

Youth Work At Maynooth

MCC are delighted and deeply blessed to have a group of young people as part of its community.

Our desire is that young people would like every other member of our community become people who respond to Gods love and glory with their whole lives.

Our prayer is that as we live as disciples of Jesus that God would also be revealed to those around us.

Our strategy is that as we disciple the young people in our congregation, they will embody the Gospel where they are; whether in school or at sport, at home or at work.

Our intention is that young people at MCC will come to know themselves as fully active members of the body of Christ expressed in the local church.

In these senses, our young people will contribute to MCC as a whole fulfilling its part in God's mission. In other words, our youth ministry is not a babysitting service, a Christian bubble to keep religious kids safe, nor even an incubator for the future of the church. Youth work at MCC helps our teenagers realise that they don't have to wait until some magical point at 18 or at 21 to play their part, to own their worship or to teach and share their wisdom with the rest of the community.

Child Protection at MCC

Maynooth Community Church takes very seriously its responsibility to the children who come under our care.  In every aspect of our church life our desire is to create a safe place for all children to enjoy and be nurtured with care, dignity and respect and to be free from any threat of mistreatment.  MCC is committed to being an open and transparent community in all its dealings including the protection and security of the children in our care.

We comply with the Taking Care guidelines developed by the dedicated office within the Board of Social Witness of the Presbyterian Church responsible for Child Protection.

MCC has produced a guideline document that outlines the policies and procedures that we implement to keep all the children under our care safe. You can download it here.
