Prayer is the foundation of all Christian activity. Its a word many people are confused about but it can be simply defined.
Prayer is communication with God.
In all its many and varied forms, that is all there is to prayer. At MCC, although we try to foster a culture of vibrant prayer, we never want to lose sight of this crucial fact.
Although we have a prayer ministry team at MCC, it is of paramount importance that prayer plays a real role in all of our lives. As much as possible, we encourage everyone in the community to join in in everything we do. There are five major aspects of our prayer ministry at MCC.
Members of our prayer team are available to pray with anyone after every Sunday service. Each week there are two members of the prayer team who are available in the room to pray with people for any issue at all.
We have a weekly prayer meeting on Friday mornings. It takes place in the MCC Resource Centre on Main St. Maynooth. It runs from 8.00am to 8.30 each week. Everyone is welcome.
We all have times when we would really value prayer from others. The Prayer Chain exists for moments like this. Regardless of what is going on in your life or in the lives of those you love, the Prayer Chain can help. Ring or text the first person in the chain and rest assured that you be prayed for- day or night.
Many of the people who attend MCC are part of small groups consisting of 3-4 people of the same gender. These Prayer Triplets and Prayer Squares are groups in which you can really get to know each other well, support each other and pray for each other. The group decides how often they meet and vary from meeting once a week to once every two months.
We regularly hold prayer events where everyone is encouraged to come and pray. The focus of these events varies according to circumstances. One of the key events of the year is our Annual Week of Prayer which we hold every Autumn. For a whole week, beginning on a Saturday morning, MCC endeavours to pray continually and give thanks to God for all that has happened and all that will happen.
If you want to know anything else about the Prayer Ministry or to get involved, ring the church office who will put you in touch with the prayer ministry leaders.
