Kids

Its so easy to think about children’s ministry as important because someday, our kids will lead the church. In MCC we view children’s ministry as important because today, our kids are part of the church.

Sunday Services Kids Ministry at MCC at the moment is based around our Sunday services. There are three streams within the ministry. The first is a creche, provided for babies and toddlers.

The second is our JAM club, meaning Jesus and Me. This group, catering for children from junior infants-age up to third class meets every week (except for Church Family Services). Here, in a caring, safe and loving environment, kids learn about the basics of the Gospel and Grace through fun games and challenging crafts.

The third stream is for children from fourth through to sixth class and it is called the SPI Club. SPI stands for “Serve, Praise and Investigate”. It operates on a week-on, week-off basis as we believe children at this age should begin their integration into the full church family by attending the whole service fairly often. At SPI Club, discussion is a big factor in how we try to explain the Grace of God to our kids. SPI Club also play a role in many of our Church Family Services by helping with worship, praying and reading.

Church Family Services

At least 6 times a year, we hold Church Family Services, often alongside communion. These are special services aimed at including all the members of our church community, from the youngest to the oldest. Through the use of interactive sermons, all-age praise music and family-friendly liturgy we try to create a space for everyone to worship together.

Christmas Play

Every Christmas, the MCC church family put a big effort into staging a Christmas play. The kids play all the crucial roles, have a part to play in the making of sets, the writing of the script, everything from beginning to end.

Our hope is that by doing this our children will feel like the important part of the MCC family that they are, that they will be challenged and built up in their gifts and confidence and most importantly, that they will better understand just what the Incarnation of Jesus means.
